Tron works with Steemit — a decentralized social media platform

The Tron Foundation is expanding its ecosystem with the announcement of a new partnership with Steemit Inc., the largest decentralized blockchain-based social media and blogging platform that looks to the cryptocurrency space.

The STEEM token will be transferred to the Tron blockchain. There will also be a new accelerator program created for the developer community.

This is a great partnership for Tron, which boasts more than 800 dApps in its ecosystem. According to the announcement, TRON said:

“TRON Foundation and Steemit Inc. will seek to add value to users and enhance advances in decentralized technology, including moving old STEEM tokens to TRON blockhain tokens based on, donating existing TRX users with new STEEM tokens, as well as a new acceleration program geared towards the developer community”

Poloniex, which has been bought by Justin Sun, has just announced that it will support the token conversion.
Tron was rumored to acquire Steemit in January but it turned out that Sun had alluded to an agreement with the DLive blockchain-based streaming platform. Besides, Steemit owns another video sharing site named D.Tube that will now switch to Tron along with a host of other dApps.

TRON is not the largest blockchain in the cryptocurrency space

It is evident that Ethereum is the most popular decentralized application platform today. Recent reports by analytics companies such as SwissBorg and others show that the Ethereum network still dominates far more than TRON, EOS and their competitors. Thanks to the growing popularity of decentralized financial applications (DeFi) hosted on Ethereum, and as recently reported by AZCoin News, the gap seems to be increasing.

In terms of popularity as well as adoption (adoption) for payment or conversion to Fiat, ETH is still a big player in the industry, losing only to BTC. ETH is lagging far behind TRX, EOS or any other coin no matter how slow its competitors blame its blockchain.

Steemit, the giant in blockchain-based blog platform

Since its inception in 2016, Steemit has attracted more than 1.2 million registered users. Like other blockchain projects, decentralization is their core value — users can create content without censorship or removal. It also rewards content creators with STEEM tokens.
